We felt it was worth a quick update on the Lifestyle blog, to talk about Autumn! With going back to school, busy schedules, desperately attempting to grasp the last remaining days of summer, and the unspoken C-word (half trying to pretend we’ve got loads of time before Christmas, half trying to get ahead of it!), Autumn is almost just a transition between two seasons, rather than embraced in it’s own way.
But if there’s one thing Autumn presents beautifully – it’s colour! The turning of leaves from greens through reds, burnt oranges and depth of browns presents a beautifully rich backdrop for family and couples photography. Unlike your more traditional shoots, the magic of a lifestyle shoot is in the action. A couple sitting on a park bench becomes a beautifully captured moment; a family walking down a leaf-lined pathway beneath a canopy of autumnal trees captures happiness and action! Children don’t always have the patience for posed photography, and even those who do tend to shine brighter when out and playing – moments of enjoyment captured often outweigh the “Say Cheese” moments!
The hour-long shoot includes 10 digital images, plus an option to buy prints, photo gifts and additional digitals… just in time for stocking fillers!
For years, happy homes have proudly displayed the family portrait upon their chimney breast with joy; naturally the trends change over the years – the rich rust & red velvet style backdrops give way to the family gathered around mum sat in a chair, up to the family barefoot on a white backdrop with strong light over the group. Yes, these photos are wonderful – but sometimes in an effort to capture the family, only the likeness is captured.
If you are ever so inclined – take 4 toddlers, add some excitement from new experiences, surround them with expensive and fun looking equipment, top it off with a little heat from the lights – then try and get them to sit still for 45 minutes, in a range of poses with a firm smile affixed to those little faces! As much as the photos of these children are loved and appreciated by friends and family for years – the “making of” is often more structured and stressed than is ideal.
So now take these same children and their family, send them outside into the wonderful sunshine (UV protected, naturally) and let them run about in the favourite park or woods! Maybe throw in a picnic, some tree climbing and sit them together along a fence for a cutesy country memory. This is far more conducive to the true family portrait.
At In The Frame Photography Ltd, Roisin goes out with families for the lifestyle shoot in a range of situations and locations. The goal is freedom and relaxation – capture the family in their element, having fun and enjoying each other. The kids get to run off that energy, so the posed shots come together quickly then dissipate smoothly in favour of next obstacle to climb! As the day proceeds, the group can pull away for a Mum & Dad shot, brothers group pic and the whole time, the rest of the family is playing together and not bored waiting for whatever comes next!
This shoot can happen almost anywhere – a family day out to a park, an event or theme park day? It is also popular for young couples – engagement photos in nature for example, and groups of friends finishing school or who just want some nice pictures together.
There are no fixed rules to this shoot – so get in touch, and book your lifestyle shoot with Roisin today!
